Don’t Create Video for Video Sake

Marketing today demands you create a relationship with your customer. For many reasons, the best way to achieve this is through video. But not just any video; the right video at the right time within the customer’s journey. This series of 7 videos we’ll be looking at the ins and outs of video marketing and how you can best connect with your customer. In this first video we look at the power of video and why you shouldn’t create video just for video sake.

Why is video taking such a strong hold?

There are many reasons, but just to mention a few:

1️⃣ It’s effective at communicating information (even complex information) better and in less time.
2️⃣ People, in general, like to watch and hear more than read.
3️⃣ Video has the power to entertain.
4️⃣ Video has the power to resonate and really connect because of its ability to convey emotion …

That’s great because as a business we know how people in general like to consume information and in business it’s important to share information and build relationships.

So, if we’re sharing information about our business, should we be using video? Absolutely! However, there is one problem. A lot of video out there also means a lot of noise. So, we can’t just create video for the sake of creating video.

We need to create video that:

✅ cuts through the noise
✅ reaches our audience
✅ resonates
✅ engages
✅ builds trust
✅ and ultimately inspires them to action.

This sounds like a tall order, but it’s very possible.“How” you might ask? Instead of starting with “we need a video”, start by asking “what problem do we need to address and how can video help?

In our next post we’ll dive deeper into that.
