The Customer Journey and How it Relates to Video

Would you marry a person you just met? Customers also feel the same way about brands they just met. In this third video of our customer journey series we look at how video can be effective in each stage.

Would you ask someone to marry you on a first date?


Or what would you say if someone asked you?

I am pretty sure I know the answer. So, why would you ask your customer to buy from you when they first meet you?

When it comes to creating a video marketing strategy, we need to consider the customer journey which is like dating.

We have:

  • The awareness stage, which is like a first date. The first time a customer sees you online.
  • The consideration stage, where they were intrigued and decided to learn more.
  • If all goes well, you’ve built a relationship, they trust you, they see value in what you offer and then we are in a position to ask for the sale.
  • Once the sale is made, then our objective is to have loyal customers and advocates.

Video can help in each stage, however it is important to note that for video to be effective, we need to create the right type of video for each of these stages.

Video content used to create awareness looks very different from the video content on a sales page. When we look at the stages of a customer journey on a spectrum, we go from a very emotional state during awareness to a logical state at the conversion/sale.
